Our Meaning
When someone has agency it means that they have both pre-reflective awareness and introspective consciousness of actions.
They can control their actions, make plans and take efforts towards a goal(s).
They control their thoughts and actions, take responsibility for their behaviours and keep learning to expand their capacity to act both independently and collaboratively.
They recognise themselves as an independent individual whilst still being considerate of other people’s feelings and needs.
Healthy people must have agency. To have a healthy workforce it's important for staff to develop a greater degree of agency. At the Agency Dr. we believe that 'workforce agency' can only be achieved by understanding peoples strengths and then using this to get them to be the best version of themselves whilst delivering to highest standard. the Agency Dr. was established out of this people centric philosophy.
Our Story
the Agency Dr. is headquartered in the UK with a Regional Office in South Africa and is a niche clinical capacity support organisation. The initial concept was born when our CEO and founder wrote a research paper on 'the barriers to uptake in clinical trials within sub-saharan Africa'. It was during this time a common theme emerged around African clinicians and their eagerness to compete for trials on an international level but in most cases lacked some of the resources and infrastructure to be competitive. What followed was a 3 year long journey that involved collaboration with specialists to develop a business support package that helps prospective research clinicians bridge the capacity gaps at a facility operational level, with the the companies official formation in 2018.
Our organisation has grown in leaps and bounds since 2018, and whilst the work we do can sometimes involve complex support programs with many moving pieces, partners and sponsors, our team remains small and efficient at its core.
Our Mission
the Agency Dr's. mission is to leverage over 30 years combined clinical operations experience to turn 'Theory to Reality' by empowering and assisting Clinics, Health Care Centres, NGO's and Charities to achieve their clinical strategic and operational goals.
Our Goal
Our main and primary objective over the years has remained the same- 'to help clinical sites in Africa deliver global clinical research projects at world class standards'. We help them achieve this through support in capacity building initiatives, which focus on training, clinical/scientific headcount, process development, equipment/procurement activities and fund raising for expansion projects.
Our Work
The team at the Agency Dr. have the expertise to help clinical sites deliver an extensive range of clinical research capabilities by employing leading business methodology and principles to accommodate the most complex Phase I through to Phase IV trials. The majority of our work includes supporting clinical sites in Africa- across a diverse spectrum of diseases and therapeutic indications.
